Bayern Munich attacker James Rodriguez rejects Cristiano Ronaldo claims Real Madrid lack experience players

James Rodriguez has dismissed claims made by Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this season that Real Madrid are missing more experienced players such as the Colombia international.

After Tottenham beat Madrid 3-1 at Wembley in the Champions League in November, Ronaldo told reporters in the immediate aftermath that 'Pepe, (Alvaro) Morata, James (Rodriguez) made us stronger but the guys now are younger... it's not a worse squad but we have less experience and that's very important.'

But Rodriguez, who joined Bayern Munich on a two-year loan deal in the summer, does not believe his old team-mate holds too low of an opinion about the Madrid squad.

After Madrid lost to Tottenham at Wembley, Ronaldo said some old team-mates were missed

'They were going through a tough moment and you say things that you shouldn't sometimes,' Rodriguez said to Caracol.

'I believe that Real Madrid have very good players to have a really good campaign. They are a massive team, they have a team with the power to change everything.

'I left lots of really good teammates and friends in Madrid and I always watch them when I can. I keep in touch with Ramos, Benzema and Marcelo.'

Madrid have endured an indifferent start to their 2017-18 season. They are fourth in La Liga with 31 points, eight behind leaders Barcelona.

Meanwhile in Germany, Rodriguez and Bayern are first in the Bundesliga with an eight-point lead over second-place Schalke.

Rodriguez is at Bayern Munich on a two-year loan deal with the German champions

Rodriguez has scored twice in 17 games for the German side so far but has had no thoughts about a return to Spain.

'For now, I am thinking about Bayern Munich. I have two years left here, I am doing well here and I am happy.'
